As we celebrate Nursing Week May 12 to 18, 2025, I want to take a moment to recognize each and every one of you. PeriAnesthesia nurses are essential to the patient journey, providing unique skilled, compassionate care during some of the most critical moments. This year’s OPANA’s Nursing Week theme for 2025 is “Changing Lives. Shaping the Future” and truly reflects the vital role we play not just at the bedside, but leading innovation, advocacy, and education within healthcare. Your unwavering dedication, expertise, and heart make a real difference every single day, and that deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated! You DESERVE IT!
-- Ingrid Daley, President
As we observe PeriAnesthesia Nursing Week 2025, it is an ideal moment for OPANA Board to
express our profound appreciation for the exceptional dedication and expertise of
PeriAnesthesia nurses. This week highlights the crucial role these nurses play in delivering high
quality, patient-centered care before, during, and after anesthesia.
OPANA would like to extend their sincere thanks to each of you for your unwavering
commitment to patient safety, comfort, and recovery. Your expertise in the pre-anesthesia,
pre-operative, Phase 2 post-operative, and post-anesthesia care (PACU) settings is
indispensable. The compassion, skill, and teamwork you bring to your roles significantly
enhance patient outcomes and experiences. OPANA is deeply grateful we all work alongside
remarkable teams of professionals, whose contributions are truly invaluable.
We encourage everyone to participate in the engaging activities organized by the National
Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses of Canada (NAPANc) and the Ontario PeriAnesthesia
Nurses Association (OPANA).
Let us unite to recognize and honor the essential work we do in safeguarding patient safety,
ensuring comfort, and supporting recovery throughout the entire perioperative journey.
OPANA Board thanks everyone for their outstanding dedication and service to PeriAnesthesia
specialty!
On Behalf of the OPANA Board, Big Thank You!!!
Ingrid Daley, President
